Chocolate Chip Ajuga

Chocolate Chip Ajuga (Ajuga x tenorii ‘Valfredda’) is a dwarf variety that shares its familys trait of glossy, colorful foliage that helps suppress weeds and control erosion. Its easy to grow and is deer- and rabbit-resistant. The long, narrow, oval leaves take on a chocolate color with burgundy highlights in spring. Bluish-purple flower spikes attract all kinds of pollinators. Chocolate Chip Ajuga prefers partial to full shade and moist well-drained soil, but it’s highly adaptable. Do not plant in heavy clay and avoid overcrowding, as it is susceptible to crown rot. It doesnt need trimming or deadheading, but its recommended to divide the plant when it gets too crowded.
