Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a site with well-draining, acidic soil. Vine maples are understory trees that appreciate shade, though they can be grown in full sun with ample moisture. Dig a hole that is twice as wide and as deep as the root ball. Place the tree in the hole, backfill with soil, and spread a 3 layer of mulch three feet around the tree. Water thoroughly.

2. Watering: Regular watering is essential, especially during the first year. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry slightly between watering sessions.

3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed to maintain its natural shape, but removing any dead or crossed branches will encourage a healthy growth pattern.
